Larry Coomes was appointed as chief executive (CE) for Queen of the Valley Medical Center in October 2016. Larry Coomes originally joined the Queen of the Valley Medical Center executive team in December 2015 as Chief Operating Officer (COO), As chief executive, Coomes has primary responsibility for the efficient operations of Queen of the Valley, coordinating the operations of several key areas and services, developing and implementing operational plans, as well as overseeing physician recruitment and inpatient and outpatient growth strategies.

Prior to accepting this position at Queen of the Valley, Coomes served as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) for Tenet Health’s Palm Beach Gardens Medical Center in Palm Beach, FL, a 199-bed acute care hospital similar in size and service to Queen of the Valley. During his three years there, Larry developed and received approval of a five-year strategic plan to drive increased revenue and volumes; drove significant improvements in clinical quality and patient safety by instituting an open and transparent environment with a focus on trust and accountability; and led a cultural overhaul resulting in major improvements to physician, employee and patient satisfaction, among other successes. Coomes has also served as CEO of Palmdale Regional Medical Center in California and CEO of Auburn Regional Medical Center in Auburn, Washington.

Coomes holds a master’s of science in Business Administration from the Fuqua School of Business, Duke University, and a bachelor’s of science in Business from Eastern Illinois University.
